Memento explores the limits of time and personal experience through everyday moments, objects, and their place in human memory. The exhibition is inspired by Christian Marclay’s The Clock, a 24-hour video in which he demonstrates common behavioural patterns in how people across all walks of life spend their time, and shows how they effectively share these moments of their lives.
‘Memento’ – the exhibition – sets out to provide an intimate and voyeuristic journey of human experience with ‘time’ at its core, touching themes of nostalgia and memory through the different lens of each artist. Commemorating moments with everyday objects and mundane scenes, the works in the show reflect aspects of an individual’s memory and life, in relation to their being.
Memento is an optimistic look into one's personal experience of time and intimacy of the moment.
