Born in 1982 Samuel Bassett comes from St Ives, Cornwall, steeped in fishing and artistic heritage.

Contemporary stories from his own experience combine with nuanced vulnerability, and his expressive, experimental hand to create psychologically layered paintings about the human condition and our place within the madness of contemporary life.

His sensitive introspection and emotional versatility is reflected in his work, where self-

portraits merge with real and imagined characters to weave a picture of that moment in

time.
